Walk-in
A customer who arrives at the dealership without an appointment, greeted by whoever is next in the rotation.
A walk-in is unscheduled showroom or lot traffic. Historically it was the main source of opportunity for most stores; today it usually arrives later in the shopping process, after the customer has done research online.
Walk-ins are worked through the up rotation, which means the store has little control over who handles them.
Why it matters for a sales manager
Walk-in traffic is the part of the funnel a manager can least influence, which is exactly why phone and text handling deserve more attention than they usually get. Appointments are the only form of showroom traffic a store can actually create on demand.
