Phone-up

An inbound sales call from a potential buyer, treated as an opportunity in the same way as a walk-in.

A phone-up is a sales opportunity that arrives by telephone. It is usually prompted by a specific listing, an advertisement or a search result, so the caller frequently has a particular vehicle in mind and a question about price or availability.

The purpose of handling a phone-up well is to set an appointment, not to complete the sale on the call.

Why it matters for a sales manager

A phone-up is a person who chose to contact you while holding a device full of alternatives. Treating it as a lesser opportunity than a walk-in is a habit that costs stores real traffic, since the caller who does not get invited in simply calls the next store on the list.
