Recorded-line notice

The disclosure telling a caller that the conversation is being recorded, typically played before the call reaches a person.

A recorded-line notice is the message stating that a call may be recorded or monitored. Dealerships commonly play it at the front of inbound calls, include it in on-hold and voicemail messages, and have staff say it aloud on outbound calls, where no system message exists.

Requirements differ by state, and consent rules can apply to everyone on the line, including anyone who joins a call already in progress. This is general information, not legal advice.

Why it matters for a sales manager

The notice is the foundation of everything a store does with its recordings, including coaching and review. It is worth verifying by calling your own lines and listening, since notices get dropped during phone system changes and nobody notices for months.
