Out-the-door price

The out-the-door price is the complete figure rather than the vehicle price alone. It generally includes sales tax, title and registration, documentation or dealer fees and any added products, though exactly what is included varies by store and by state.

Because the components differ, two out-the-door quotes from different dealerships are not always comparing the same things.

Why it matters for a sales manager

Shoppers increasingly ask for this number first, and an evasive answer damages trust immediately. Being able to explain the components clearly, then offering to put the full figure in writing at a set time, turns a price question into an appointment.
