Payment quote over the phone

Giving a customer a monthly payment figure by phone or text before a credit decision or a completed deal structure.

Callers frequently ask what the payment would be. A real answer depends on the final price, the trade and its payoff, down payment, term, taxes and fees, and the rate the customer qualifies for. None of those are settled during a first call.

The common alternative is to acknowledge the question, explain in one sentence what the figure depends on, and offer two specific times to go through the numbers.

Why it matters for a sales manager

A number given to keep a caller happy becomes the number they expect at delivery. When the real figure arrives higher, the store spends the visit defending a quote instead of selling a vehicle, and the gross usually pays for it.
