Do-not-call list

The registries and internal records of people who have asked not to receive marketing calls, which a store has to honor.

Two things carry this name. One is the national registry consumers sign up for. The other is the store’s own list, which records anyone who told your dealership directly to stop calling. Both have to be respected, and the internal one is usually where stores get into trouble, because a request made out loud to a salesperson has to reach the systems that dial.

Requests arrive anywhere: on a call, in a text reply, at the desk, by email. Rules on timing, record keeping and exceptions are specific. This is general information, not legal advice.

Why it matters for a sales manager

The expensive failures here are process failures rather than bad intentions: a customer asks a salesperson to stop calling, nobody marks the record, and an automated sequence keeps going for three weeks. Make the request easy to record from any channel, check that your outbound tools actually read that field, and have counsel review the policy.
