Autodialer

Software that places calls automatically, a category federal telemarketing rules treat with particular care.

In everyday dealership use, an autodialer is anything that dials for you: a power dialer that works a list, a system that calls several numbers at once, or a platform that places outbound calls on a schedule. The legal term is narrower than the everyday one, and its exact boundaries have been the subject of litigation and regulatory change.

Because definitions differ and consent requirements attach to specific technologies and specific kinds of content, the safe approach is to describe how a tool actually works to counsel rather than relying on a vendor’s label. This is general information, not legal advice.

Why it matters for a sales manager

Outbound dialing tools get bought by whoever needs more calls made and reviewed by nobody. The store carries the risk, so the questions belong to a manager: what list is being dialed, where the consent came from, how requests to stop are honored, and what happens when a customer asks to be left alone. Have counsel review the answers before the first campaign.
