Missed-call answering by an AI agent

Letting a voice agent pick up sales calls that would otherwise ring out, go to voicemail or die on hold.

When nobody is available, a call has to go somewhere. An AI agent is one option: it answers, says what it is, handles the simple questions such as hours and whether a unit is still listed, captures a name and a number, and either books a time or promises a callback from a person.

The scope should be narrow and the escape hatch obvious. Anything involving price, a trade figure, credit or a complaint belongs with a person, and a caller who asks for a human should get one without having to fight for it.

Why it matters for a sales manager

Calls that never reach anyone are the cheapest loss in the store to fix, and they cluster at opening, lunch, Saturdays and after hours. An agent that answers, identifies itself and takes down a number beats a voicemail box the customer will not use. Judge it the way you judge a new hire: listen to the calls, and watch what happens after the handoff.
