Spouse or co-buyer

The second person involved in the decision, who may also need to be on the paperwork.

Vehicle purchases are often joint decisions, and sometimes joint obligations. A spouse, a partner, a parent or a business partner may be the one who has to agree, the one who will actually drive it, or the one whose credit makes the deal work as a co-signer.

Finding out early changes both the appointment and the deal. The visit gets scheduled when both people can attend, the drive includes whoever will use the vehicle, and the finance office is not surprised at the last minute by a second name that changes the approval.

Why it matters for a sales manager

The question costs one sentence on the first call and saves a category of stall that nobody can close around. It also makes the appointment stronger, since a time chosen so both people can come is a time the customer has actually thought about, rather than a slot agreed to in order to end the call.
