Out-of-market buyer
A shopper contacting you from far enough away that distance, logistics and delivery become part of the conversation.
Out-of-market buyers call because of a listing, a price or a hard to find configuration. Some are serious enough to fly in or arrange transport. Others are comparing your price against their local store and have no intention of traveling anywhere.
Sorting the two takes a few direct questions: how they plan to get here, what they have been quoted at home, whether a trade would have to come with them, and what their timeline is. Registration, taxes and titling in another state also have to be handled correctly, which is a reason to involve the office early.
Why it matters for a sales manager
These customers absorb a lot of time and a share of them never had a reason to buy from you. A rep who asks about travel plans and a local quote in the first few minutes learns which kind they are before spending an afternoon on photos and videos. The serious ones are worth real effort, because they came looking for exactly what you have.
