Task in the CRM

A dated, owned to-do attached to a customer record, which is how a promise becomes something the store can check.

A task is the mechanism that carries a next step. It names what has to be done, for which customer, by whom and by when, and it appears on somebody’s list on the right day. Without one, the follow-up depends on memory and on whatever else is happening that afternoon.

Tasks decay quickly if they are not managed. Once a rep opens the CRM to fifty overdue items, the list stops being a plan and becomes wallpaper, and the useful tasks are buried among the ones nobody ever intended to do.

Why it matters for a sales manager

Overdue task counts tell you more about your follow-up than any activity report. If the number is enormous, the cadence is generating work nobody can do, and the fix is fewer and better tasks rather than more nagging. If it is zero and appointments are still being missed, the promises are not reaching the system in the first place.
