Appointment show

A set appointment where the customer actually arrived, counted once against the customer rather than the booking.

An appointment show is the arrival. Counting it sounds simple and rarely is: a customer who reschedules twice and then comes in is one show, a customer who arrives on a different day without telling anyone is usually still credited, and a customer greeted by someone other than the person they had the appointment with still showed.

Stores that count shows loosely, by marking anyone who visited that week against an open appointment, lose the ability to tell whether their appointments are real. Write the rule down once and apply it to every source.

Why it matters for a sales manager

Shows are the only traffic your store can create on purpose, which makes them the number worth protecting from creative counting. A set rate that climbs while shows stay flat is not improvement, it is softer appointments, and the sooner you can see that in the two numbers side by side, the less time you spend celebrating something that is not happening.
