Confirmation asked.
Someone reaches back out before the appointment to confirm the day, time and vehicle, and asks the customer for a reply.
"Hi Marcus, confirming Thursday at 4. Reply yes and I'll have it pulled up front."
What it sounds like. Synthetic example. Why it matters
Confirmation is how a manager finds out on Friday what the Saturday board is really worth. It also protects the customer experience, because the confirmation is where you learn the trade is not with them, the spouse cannot make it or the time no longer works, while there is still room to fix it. A message that only announces the appointment is a reminder. A confirmation asks a question and waits for an answer.
What to do next
Reach out the day before, at a time of day the customer actually answers, and include the three things that make it real: the time, the vehicle and the person they will ask for. Ask something that requires a reply. If nobody answers the text, call. If the customer hedges, treat it as a live conversation and reset the time on the spot instead of hoping.
How to coach it
Read two confirmations out loud in the one-on-one, one that announced and one that asked. The difference is obvious when heard rather than explained. Have the rep write their own two lines, then hold them to sending it the day before rather than an hour ahead, when there is no time left to save the visit.

Questions about this signal
When is the best time to confirm?
The day before, early enough that a reset is still possible. An hour before leaves no room to save the visit if something has changed.
Call or text to confirm?
Use the channel the customer has been answering on, then use the other one if there is no reply. A thread that has been active all week is usually the faster route.
What if the customer never replies?
The appointment stays unconfirmed, which is exactly the list to work in the morning. Silence is a reason to reach out again, not a cancellation.
